ANNUAL MEETING
The annual general inaeting ol tlie above club was held in the .Council Chambers on Monday evening, when there were about 40 members present. , Mr W. Murdoch was voted to the chair, Messrs. Taylor and Birchall being appointed joint secretaries lor the club. The election of officers lor the em suing year resulted as follows: Patron, Mr W. McKegg; president, Mr W. Murdoch; vice-presidents, Messrs. H. T. Greedy, Dr. Macdonald, A. de Luen, J. Roach, Wells, S. W. Car'ter, V. Croon, Dinnie, Bovis, Chong Pok, Beard, Jhing Lee, Fargher, H. Hook, Dalzell, Voysey, C. Hardie, Gunning, W. Moynihan, Hudson, Murphy, Spiers, Patton, C. C. Franks, T. King, Uickhoff, McDonald, W. S. Gardner, A. McPherson, A. W, Scott, H. A. Seifert, Jus. Curran, Waring-Taylor, Hyde, Wilkinson, T. Gardner, G. Hook, J. Crowther, J. 'reran, Thwaites, F. Tliompsoii and Bebbinglon; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. H. Taylor; management., committee, Messrs W. T. and R. Moynihan, Grimstone, A. de Luen and R. Sands: delegates to Union, W. Moynihan, Grimstone, Birchall and Burrows; auditor, Mr Murphy. The annual sub. was fixed as follows: Seniors 5/, juniors 5 . thirds 2/6, all plus insurance. Selectors were appointed as follows: —Seniors: Captain, vice-captain and Mr J: Hennessey; juniors, Mr Grimstone; thirds, Mr Alt. Hunt. Mi Henne scy to select first senior ream and then team 1o select captain and vice-cajifain, and the two latter arid Mr Hennessey to make selection for rest ol' the games.
The matter of junior players refusing to play in the senior team was discussed at some length. Mr W. Moynihan said if the senior selectors consider a junior is qualified to play senior and ihe refuse to play, he should be compelled to stand on the line. The juniors are to feed the seniors.
Mr Prain then moved „ that the senior, selection committee have first call on the members of the club and any member so selected'shall play as directed for the season.—Carried. On the motion of Mr Hardie, the delegates to the Horowhenua Rugby Union were instructed to inquire into J. McDonald’s disqualification. To inquire what it was for, and how long, as they have never been able: to' get any satisfaction on the matter. Also if H. McDonald’s disqualification cannot be considered, in view of the evidence of the referee in the assault match.
Mr T. Moynihan said J. McDonald’s case had been brought up at the Union’s meeting last season, but owing to. the secretary being absent ii had been deferred, but he thou glut satisfaction would be given this season. In regard to the other case he did not think there was any hope of having it reconsidered.
Mr Grimstone. moved that all the selectors of the three teams meet every Tuesday night.—Carried.
Decided that the club colours be left as they are, viz., red.
Mr Grimstone moved that practice matches be left to the Management committee and selectors, and the'onus he on them to see they are carried out.—Carried.
Mr W. Moynihan stated Mnngore was putting a team in the field. 1-Ie had invited delegates from that club to attend the meeting, with a view to conferring with the Management Committee in regard to being represented on the Horowhenua Management Committee in the mutual interests of the club.
The delegate present said he did not think they could put a senior team iri the field, but would ttiave a junior. He was not aware of what Mr Moynihan desired him to attend for, and was therefore not prepared to do anything I 'without consulting his club. Finally he was asked to attend the Management Committee’s meeting to have the matter explained, which l? agreed to.
