THE FOOTBALL SEASON.
SENIOR CLUB FOR OTAKI
A meeting of footballers was held hi
the Council Chambers on Monday night for the purpose of considering the advisability of forming a senior club for Otaki. Captain Bax presided, and after referring to the splendid attendance —it being a record one—said they had been called together to consider the matter of amalgamation of teams so as to enable the district to produce a senior team that would uphold the honour of the' town. Football, he said, had done well in the, past, but it was now the desire to advance it and bring Otaki more into the lime-light. He therefore was in accord with others in supporting the formation of a senior club, which could be backed up by junior teams.. Mr Eddy, in supporting the proposal, said last season Otaki was divided, with the result that football was not of a high standard. The formation of olio club would improve football,' and also be the means of doing away with ill-feeling which had prevailed among players last season. Several others also spoke on the same lines, after which it was unanimously decided to form one Club, (o be known as the “ Otaki United,” colours to be green jersey and black pants, subscription .for senior and jun-' ior players to be 2s fid each. The following officers were then elected:—Patron, Mr W. H. Field, M.P.; President, Mr J. P; Brandon; Vice-Presidents, Captain Bax, Kupa Hawea, J. McGill, W. Baker, Father Vibaud; Joint Secretaries, Messrs M. C. Mclntyre and C. King; Treasurer,

Wednesday night’s meeting for the amalgamation of teams in Gtaki and also for the purpose of forming a strong senior and perhaps two junior learns, was a splendid one, great interest being, displayed throughout. The Club is fortunate in securing capable officers, and it is hoped that players will now do their duty, sink all differences and combine to make the Club the best in the district.
It is hoped that the football urea will be put into good order, and that players will lose no. time in getting into
f orm. At - a meeting of members of the Olaki Druids’ Lodge last night it was j decided to form a football club, and ( probably enter a senior team for coni- \ petition.
