AMUNDSEN’S NEW PROJECT.
EXTRAORDINARY PROVISIONS FOR RESCUE. SPITZBERGEN THE DESTINATION ( Received Monday, 8 p.m.) NEW YORK, March 12. The "New York Times” correspondent at Nome, Alaska, says Amundsen lias announced that he will start, an aeroplane flight from Wainwrig'ht, on the north coast of Alaska, across the North Pole, to Spitzbergen, on June 20, or as near thereafter as the weather permits. ‘ Since the exact moment to hop off is undeterminable, cn extensive bonfire signal system will be arranged, by which the start will be flashed to Spitsbergen, • and extraordinary provisions for rescue in the event of disaster will be made as far north as possible.
