The Women’s Christian Temperance Union - Convention decided to cable Lady Astor congratulating her on being the first women to introduce a Bill in the House of Commons, and thanks for work on behalf of temperance. A resolution was passed asking the Go. vernmeni to strictly enforce liquor regulations among- Mapris in the King Country. Strong comment was made on the tendency to play games on Sunday, and a motion was passed deplor.' ing the desecration of the Sabbath. A protest was made against the Government in not removing the bar to pre. vent women serving as jurors and acting as justices of the peace and police patrols. It was decided to approach the next conference of -the British Medical Association asking for an official pronouncement regarding the ef. fects of alcohol on the human race.
