SUPERS At late rates.
CHRISTCHURCH Last Night. The fourth wool sale was held today. 13,046 bales being, offered. There was a full bench of buyers, and the catalogue included a fair ’proportion of back station clips. The condition was not up to the - previous standards, a fair amount being' seedy. Super wools of all grades, except coarsecrossbred, met with practically as good a market as in January. The market was very irregular for all classes, .but buyers appeared to.have elastic limits for any lots outstanding in their respective/ grades, but stopped Quickly when shabby lilies were Offered. . The ea/sing on January rates for medium qualities of all counts was from Id to lid, and for shabby' wools from Id , t o l|d. Pieces, bellies and fellmongery ' line's sold irregularly, in some cata-‘ logues being practically as good as at the January auction, and in others up to lid down. • i ■ , Competition was not so tree as at past sales this year, and American competition was practically nonexistent. Home buyers and local ‘mills took a big proportion of finer wools. Continental buyers secured d fair pro- , portion of coarse grades.
