It is a question which is of the most.vital .importance to the progress of .the borough, as without, an efficient water supply it is v quite, impossible, for the town .to make ’ a forward move, while again, from; a ' health • and safety point it is ' most essential. We fe6l sure the , progressive, ratepayers 1 will exercise their'votes 'and give the Council their

Support by voting for the loan. ,Tlu scheme as. outlined is one of the besi that could be devised, and .the' borough. is fortunate in being able to obtain such a splendid water supply .‘ at a cost ,of only £II,OOO, as comparted with/what other towns in New Zealand have paid. Some ' of' our neighbours: have already shown us the way in .regard to ■water supply, both Foxton and Otaki having recently carried loans for the purpose and having .their works ‘veil advanced. We ■ trust'the friends of progress in Shannon will rally to, the poll on' Monday and show that 'they, will not 1 -tolerate any longer, the existing state Tol affairs, which is a hindrance to good health, a constant , invitation'-to the fire menace, and a reproach to ally borough which aspires to improve the living conditions- of its citizens. - .'The hours of the poll will be from y a.iu. to 7 p.m., at the. Council Gliambers, , Plimmer Terrace. Each ratepayer lias one vote only..
