OBITUARY.

DL\. EVANS, SHANNON. Word was received in Shannon on Saturday oi the death in Dr Giiray's" hospital at Napier on Friday of Dr. Owen Evans, who had practised ins profession here until recently. The deceased gentleman had many friends in this district, and his early demise - will be regretted" by all. The late Dr. Evans was, born at Homewood, Otane, and was educated at the Napier Boys' High School, Knox College, and Edinburgh University, where he obtained his F.R.C.S.E. degree. He served in the .Royal Medical Corps as a captain in France, and afterwards in Palestine will] the 53rd Division, under General Allenby, and developed sleeping sickness (encephalitis), from which he never really recovered. Afterwards he went" under a serious operational! a London military hospital. He is survived by his wife and three children. The funeral took place on Sunday, the Rev. F. W. Robertson conducting air impressive service.
