MANGAHAO HYDRO NOTES.

WET WEATHER AND FLOODS,

Dr. McDonald paid his initial visit to the Camp on Thursday, and attended to several patients with minor ailments.

The wet. weather continues almost without any abatement, and has brought down several slips on the road, handicapping transport somewhat. Noj 1 tunnel was flooded again on Tuesday afternoon and evening, and the workmen had to beat a hasty retreat to safety. Otherwise no damage was dona.

-iie whole community are taking the wet weather 'very hard"' after the holidays ,aud. your correspondent has not yet met anyone anxious to remain on the. job very long. Every one seems thoroughly "led up" with the almost perpetual wet climate that is the usual experience in these parts.

General dissatisfaction exists over the uncertain mail service here, and the agitation is being continued for a more satisfactory means of transporting the mails in and out of the camp.

the Y.M.C.A. recreation scheme is in full swing again, and the, Hut continues to be the social centre of the camp. The Camp Orchestra is doing splendid, and a xylophone set recently added and manipulated by Mr Kelly is a fine acquisition to the music»p repertory of the hut.
