BALLOT FOR SECTIONS.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS. On Tuesday evening at the Borough Council Chambers, a ballot was taken lor- the purchase of the six sections situated in Vance Street and Plimmer Terrace, which are the remainder of the block purchased by the Council for the purpose of erecting workers’ houses. Owing to there being no further inquiry for houses, the Council decided to sell the remaining sections, and as there were more than one application for some of the sections, it was decided to have a ballot. Sections 1 and 5 were the most soughtafter, tnere being five applicants for No. 1, of a little over a quarter acre, on the corner, and for No. 5, of nearly half an acre, there were nine applicants. Most of the' applicants were present to draw for themselves, while for absentees substitutes were found. The following were the results:— Section No. 1, five applicants, Mr B.

Spencer. No. 2, Mr Bert Wilkinson, only applicant. No. 3, no applicants. No. 4, no applicants. No. 5, nine applicants, Mr J. V. Burns. No. 6, Mrs C. liardie, only applicant.
