BOWLING.
Sixteen rinks competed in the New Year tournament at- Palmerston, including two front Shannon and one from Levin. Needham (Palmerston) went through the A Section without a loss, and Ramsay (Palmerston) did the same in the B Section. These two meet in the final.
Murphy’s rink (Spencer, Murray, Gagliardi and Murphy) had three wins and three losses. Fargher’s rink (Clayton, Gunning, Roach and Fargher) had one win. Rankin’s rink (Wilson, Brown, Percy and Rankin) won two games and lost four. VISITORS FROM QUEENSLAND.
On Thursday, January 4, by the 11.55 train, from Wellington, the party of Queensland bowlers, numbering 21 gentlemen and 7 ladies, will arrive in Palmerston North and will play five rinks in the afternoon agaist the town clubs. These will be represented as follows: Palmerston North Club 7 players, Manawatu 5, Terrace End 4, Northern 4.
On Friday, at 9 a.m., play will take place on the Terrace End. green, when Feilding, Pahiatua and Dannevirke- will each provide a rink, and two players will represent the Woodville, Foxton, and Shannon clubs.
The vistors, who leave for Auckland in the afternoon, will be taken for a motor drive about the district prior to their departure.
