MANGAHAO HYDRO NOTES.

FATHER CHRISTMAS TO VISIT THE CAMP. Political meetings have been both frequent and interesting of late, and large audiences hav© gathered in the Recreation Hut to hear the various orators propound their views. Each and every speaker has been accorded a fair and impartial hearing, even if the whole of his particular views were not accepted by the majority. A census taken by the Y.M.C.A. secretary of the children, in the interests of the coming Christmas Tyee and visit of “Father Christmas” to the camp, revealed the interesting fact that there are 60 children between the ages of two weeks, and 15 years in this locality. The sexes are nearly equally divided, there being 32 boys and 28 girls. Over half of this number are housed with their parents in tents, and despite the continued wet weather and the many inconveniences of camp life, all were in good health, and the majority very happy in their surroundings. To say “Father Christ-

mas” will get a royal welcome from this crowd is putting it very mildly. Mrs Lindup and family have left cn holiday to the Whangarei district. As-sistant-Engineer Lindup will join them later on towards the festive season.
