CRICKET.
The following team has been selected to represent Shannon Cricket Club in their first match next Saturday against Y.M.C.A. at Levin: Messrs, Grainger (captain), Stewart, Prain, Hunt, Johnson, Randall, Mason, Rev. Abbott, Parsons, Elwood, Harris, and Small as twelfth man. The char-a-banc will be leaving Hook’s stoop at 1.15 p.m. sharp.
SHANNON V. Y.M.C.A. A team from Y.M.C.A., Levin, visited Shannon on Saturday, and met a local eleven in a friendly game before the competition commences. Shannon batted first, knocking up 105, Merwood and Grainger being the chief contributors. Y.M.C.A., who were three men short., had the services of two players from the P.W.D. team, and one supplied by the Shannon Club. The visitors failed to reach the home team’s score by 64 runs, Randall and Harris securing the wickets. Y.M.C.A.
