A resourceful lorry driver is reported to have done a daring bit of driving in the Ohau district lately. He had material to deliver over some out-back roads, which are still in a somewhat primitive state. One socalled road was found to have a very steep pinch, and in attempting this the petrol feed to the engine was cut off owing to the tank being below engine level. This was a poser for the driver, but as he had plenty of engine power, he was not going to he. stopped by trifles. He backed down to the level again, turned his lorry round and successfully negotiated the difficult road backwards! '
