A traveller on the New Plymouth express bad a rather unique and unpleasant experience the other day. He was standing on the platform of a carriage when he felt rather warm about the back and on placing his hand inside liis coat be smouldering. He subsequent iy discovered that a cigarette-butt, discarded from a window further up die train had caught in ttje back of his raincoat and slowly burnt through both and his inner coat.
