(From Our Own Correspondent.)

The new Medical Hut was utilised by Dr. Evans on liis regular visit on Tuesday. The building, when completed, will be a distinct advantage to both doctor and patients. Mrs Lindup and family have arrived from Nelson, and are now in residence at Arapeti. Part of the necessary school equipment has arrived from the Education Boat’d, and has been set up in the end of the Y.M.C.A. social hall, where Miss Irving, the teacher in charge, has initiated the long-promised school. The Public Works Department are at present building the necessary outbuildings and connecting the water supply.

The billiard room extension at the Y.M.C.A. recreation hut is nearing completion, and the billiard table, which has been dismantled for over four months will be in commission again in a day or two—-much to the satisfaction of the workers here. Mr Patrick McGill has been elected lo the secretaryship of the local branch of the Union, vice Mr’“Snowy” Olson, retired. An epidemic of influenza of a mild type has been prevalent, during the last few days, but all the* sufferers are now well on the road to recovery.'
