LEVIN MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
A SHORT SITTING
The monthly sitting of the Court was held before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., yesterday. STRAY CATTLE CASES.
A list of Shannon cases was dealt with, Mr M. O’Connell, the Borough ranger, prosecuting on behalf of the Borough Council. Convictions and fines were imposed as follows: Leonard Satherley, fined £2 and 7/ costs; Michael Fitzgerald, Patrick Gill, Selina Hamilton (two charges), Nornian Gill, fined £1 and costs 7/, the latter defendant being fined 10/ and 7/ on two additional charges; Frederick Newport, Elizabeth Jane Sullivan, B. Simes (three charges), fined 5/ and 7/ costs.
CIVIL CASES. His Worship gave judgment for plaintiffs in the following civil cases: E. if. Best and W. S, Park v. B. Kiriona, claim £2 10/, costs £1 8/6; Horowlienua County Council v. J. D. Howell, claim £5 6/2, costs £1 2/6; same v. George Wells, claim £32 12/4, costs £4 5/6; same v. H. H. Bills, claim £35 18/2, costs £4 2/6; N. A. Anderson v. J. G. Stevens, claim £43 14/3, costs £4 2/6; M- Thorley v. W. C. Boyer, claim £24 10/, costs £3 16/.
JUDGMENT SUMMONSES. I D. Cole was ordered to pay the LeI vin Meat Company £6 18/7 at the rate of £1 per month, in- default seven days’ imprisonment.> [ James Carrol had an order made against him in favour of B. P. Gleeson for the sum of £8 0/6, to be paid in monthly instalments of 10/, or iff 1 default seven days in gaol. E, Porter (Shannon) was ordered to pay the N.Z. Grinding and Gear Co. £lB 0/9 forthwith, default being 14 days’ imprisonment.
