Mr W. H. Field, M.P., who introduced the recent County deputation to the Minister for Public Works in regard to the County bridges, is keeping in close touch with the Department, and has forwarded to the Minister a strongly-worded letter emphasising the seriousness of the position, and the possibility of the main road being closed by the County. The Department takes up the attitude that the works are purely maintenance, and as such cannot receive a grant, but the County’s point of view is being very forcibly represented te the Minister, both by the Council and member for the district.
