SHANNON STOCK REPORT.

The monthly stock sale at Shannon was revived on Wednesday last, when there was a fair attendance of the public. The yarding was only moderate owing to the short notice given to those with stock to offer. Quotations: Fat ewes 19/6, fat hoggets 21/1. In the cattle section a large number of store cows offered realised from 30 j to £2, yearling heifers 30/ to £2 5/, Jersey-cross yearling Iheifers £4 5/ to £5, Jersey, bull £5. Pigs; Weaner pigs (small) 16/.

CATTLE MARKET IMPROVES.

STORES IN BETTER DEMAND

The improvement that was noticeable in cattle at the Levin sale last week was again apparent on Tuesday. This will be particularly welcome to owners of store stock, which has had a long season of poor prices. The best stores realised £2 7/6, which is nearly double the values ruling a few months back. Fats are also selling better, and the whole tone of the cattle market is much healthier. In the dairy section a good range of prices was experienced in both springing heifers and cows, the former making from £7 to £ll 5/ and the latter £7 lip,to £-12 5/. Sheep continue to come forward in small numbers, and few were yarded. Pigs were also a small section, and this resulted in stores selling better, values reaching 36/ for good forward conditioned sorts. Porkers were few and maintained late rates.
