Barber at yesterday’s meeting of the Manawatu County Council, when advice was received from the Valuation Department that, as the Government had declined to acquire the Moutoa estate, the valuation of the property had been reduced to the owners’ assessment. I The poles for the new party tele- ' phone line to the top of the Ihakara ; hill have been erected, and the wire ! connections will soon be made. The line will reach Mr Jas. Rolston’s farm, and the others to be served by the line are Messrs. Bradfleld Bros., , G. Tully, A. Gordon-Glassford, Armstrong Bros, and the Ihakara creamj ery. When joined up, the conveni- ; ence of the ’phone will be & boon to ! the settlers.
