TENNIS CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of the Shannon Tennis Club was held in the Council Chambers on Wednesday evening, when there was a fair attendance. Mr J. T. Bovis presided, and after the

balance-sheet had been confirmed, gave a resume of the year’s work, stating that although the club had been unsuccessful in their visit to Bulls to secure the Newman Cup, they intended to pay another visit this coming season, and they (hoped to bring the cup to Shannon. He pointed out that the annual ball had been a great success, and the club on its year’s working showed a small credit balance.

Mr W. Quarrie, who has been secretary for the past three years, sent in his resignation. The chairman said Mr Quarrie had proved a real live secretary, and the club wished to thank . him for the good work he had done. The following new members were elected: Miss G. Merwood, Mesdames C. Hardie and Mason, Messrs. R. Murray, Trueman, George, C. Jennings, McCormick, Mason, Gordon and J. V. Burns. ELECTION OF OFFICERS.

The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr W. McKegg; president Mr J. T. Bovis; vice-presidents, Messrs. R. W. Taylor, A. Dinnie, H. Hook and T. Mason; captain and. sole selector, Mr W. Quarrie; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. V .Burns; management committee .Mesdames Merwood, Whibley and Terry, Misses McKegg and Butler, Messrs. Mason, Hook, Bovis, Quarrie and Bums.

A general meeting will be held on Thursday evening next at the Coun cil Chambers, at 7 o’clock, to adopt new club rules, etc.
