SENIOR. Shannon 16, Weraroa 0.
JUNIOR. Weraroa y. Rovers—postponed. THIRD GRADE. Weraroa y. Shannon—Weraroa won by default. Training Farm 8, Te Horo 3. SHANNON BEAT WERAROA The Shannon-Weraroa match was played at Shannon on Saturday. Shannon won the toss and Weraroa kicked off in a fine, drizzling' rain. With fast dribbling rushes the Shannon. forwards carried play to Weraroa’s twenty-fivei. Attempts were then made to open up the game by the backs, but not very successfully owing to the greasy state of. the ball. Weraroa were saved in a tight corer by a knock-on. Play at this stage developed to something like -a “soccer” game, and some fine dribbling rushes were led by R. Moynihan. it was mainly through these rushes that Shannon scored; several tries, the final result being a win for the- home team by 16 to nil.
A very spectacular try was scored by T. Moynihan, who outpaced all on. the field. A good kick by Kelly registered the full points.
FOXTON SENIORS BEATEN. More than usual interest centred in the Foxton-Hui Mai senior game on Saturday on account of the close positions they occupy in the championship, the seaside team only being a point ahead. The heavy rain of the previous two days made the Manakau ground very heavy, and the ball was difficult to handle. Under these con ditions back play was largely at a discount, and the; game resolved itself into a hard slog among the forwards The only score of the day went to 1-1 ui Mai, who did most of the attacking. The play was in the Foxton twentyfive when the ball was kicked into the air clear of the ruck. Johnson judged the ball nicely, and raced up to take it on the full, and going on scored a good try. The goaling kick was sue cessful, and Hui Mai Aed s—o.5 —0. The Test of the game was- stubbornly fought out, and although, the Greens looked like adding further scores, they failed to add the finisbiing. touch. Play ended without change in the score. Mr Burrows, of Shannon, was referee.
WIN FOR, WANDERERS JUNIORS.The Foxton-Wanderers junior gan«? was played on the Levin Domain on a heavy ground. The conditions suited the - Wanderers, whose forwards had ’ a big puli over their opponents, and in the second spell especially had much the best of the play. The Foxton juniors have performed well so far this season on dry grounds, and play a good open game. The Wanderers, however, were at honre in the heavy going, and Moody, Bell and Terry scored tries, whilst McGregor put up Foxton’s only score. .Wanderers thus won by 9 to 3.
