“ROPED” ON SATURDAY
Following is thel story of “Roped,” the big Western thriller, due in Shan-
non on Saturday:—
* Cheyenne Harry, millionaire cattleman, decid§s that he'needs a housekeeper for his palatial ranch house. His cowboys think differently, for they decide that it is a wife he needs, and set out to get one for him. Advertising. in a matrimonial paper for a suitable wile, they receive an answer from Aileen Judson Brown, dictated to her by her fortune-hunting mother.
Harry arrives at the Brown house and marries Aileen, the latter strongly protesting, but forced by her mother. In time a baby is bom, but Mrs Judson Brown has had such an evil influence on her daughter that Ailer-n is under the impression that Harry is neglecting her when he docs net come to see her. ' Her mother supports this idea, though in reality she had forbidden Harry entrance tc his wife’s room, thus opening a breach between the young couple. Ther baby now becomes Harry’s greatest joy in life, though, under the strict surveillance of his mother-in-law and the nurse, he is banned from the nursery, and has to steal his visits at night. Then Mamma steps in again with social 'ambitions for her daughter. Having gained Harry’s money she seeks to get rid of him when Ferdie van Duzen comes on the scene. Him she picks out as a more suitable husband for her daughter than Harry. She is amazed when Aileeh does not fall in with her plans to divorce her husband. Truth to tell, Aileen has been rapidly falling in love with Harry. Seeing this state of affairs Mamma takes the opportunity when Harry is away at his ranch on a business trip to take her daughter and the baby away. When Harry returns it is with the belief that thei baby is dead and that his wife has deserted him. However, through the butler he learns that Mrs Judson Brown has been engineering things, and together they locate the nurse and wring a confession out of her.
Aileen has also been told that* the baby is dead and that Harry has deserted her, and in her misery she is about to consent to a divorce in favour of Freddie, when TTarry returns, with the baby, which 1!£ has recovered from the woman into whose charge it had been 'given. He si ends Ferdie on his oblique head, orders his mother-in-law out of the house, and then takes Aileen in his arms. Shortly thereafter the trio—Harry, Aileen arid the baby—start off for a belated honeymoon, ending up at the ranch house.
