METHODIST SOCIAL.

On Wednesday evening a sit-down tea and social, together wtih the annual prize-giving, was held in the Parish Hall. There were a large number of both children and adults piesent. The hall was nicely decorated, and the many tables were laden with good things, the sight of which gladdened the hearts of the young peopleAs Mr T. F. Gibson, who was present from Levin, said in a few opening remarks, the scene was a striking contrast to the tables of many m other countries to-day. After the tea followed a programme of songs and recitations. A party of visitors from Foxton ,added to the pleasure of the evening. After an opening chorus by the girls of the school, Mr Gibson gave a short address on Sunday school work. Then followed a flute solo by Mr Moore, song by Miss Mollie Downs, recitation by Miss Mona Ingly, recitation by Ivan McLoughnan, solo by Mrs Downs, recitation by Miss Thelma Buckman, recitation by Miss Joyce Carter, solo by Miss Scadden, recitations by Miss Eva Quarrie and Mollie Downs, solo by Miss Chalk, recitation by Mr Chapman, and solo by Mrs Bishop. All the iteips were well received, and many of the choruses were sung by all present, and was a good samplei of community singing. The prize-giving ended a very pleasant evening. The following children received prize's:— Senior Girls. —First prize, Eva Quarrie, second Vera Quarrie, .bird Muriel Barber, fourth Constance Barber, fifth Joyce Carter; Rita Byers, LiPan Fletcher, Marjorie Tremewan, Evaline Swindleliurst.

Senior Boys.—First Mervyn Byers, second Vincent Brown, third Harry Tremewan; Raymond Buckman, YVill'ord Baxter.

Junior Girls.—First Ruby Payne, second Olga Buckman, Lilian Buckman, third Phyllis Buckman, fourth Leila. Treniewan; Doris Brown, + Margaret Swidlehurst, Doris Tremewan, Meiva Olsen.

Junior Boys. First lan McLaclFan, second Cyril Treniewan, third Ra.’ph Cross, fourth Derrick Brown, Myra Cross.

Infant Class. Joyce Quarrie, Agnes Hunsman, Mavis Hunsman, Iris Cross, Joan Johnstone, Ellen Easton, Ngaire Payne, Jean Dalziell, Jock Hunsman, lan Byers, Douglas Dolziell, Alex. Buckman.

Young Worshippers’ League.—First, Muriel Barber, Eva Quarrie, full church attendance for year; second Rita Byers; third Vera Quarrie; fouith Constance Barber.

Tablet Work.—First Joyce Carter, second Eva Quarrie.
