“WESTWARD HO!” ON WEDNESDAY
At the local theatre this week, one can revel in the atmosphere of the Spanish Main, peopled with Dons, galleons and frigates, and of the hillsides of old Devon, home of our boyhood heroes, such as Drake, Hawkins, Raleigh, and many others whose names bring a thrill to every British hoy’s heart, “Westward Ho!”, the English screen presentation of Kingsley’s famous classic, furnishes atmosphere, and is a picture that no one would overlook. An all-star cast portrays the famous characters of Amyas Leigh and Frank Leigh, Rose Salteme, “the: toast of Devon,” gallant John Oxenham anil Salvatoin Yeo, hot. forgetting the little Spanish maiden Ayaeonora. Magnificently produced mid splendidly acted, .“Westward Mo! ’ is worthy of a place of honour among the great screen productions of modern times.
RIG SERIAL ENDS FRIDAY. The thrilling serial, “Smashing Barriers,” will be concluded on Friday night with a startling incident entitled “The Human Chain.” A star i'hclure will also figure on the bill. On Friday the delightful comedy, “Oh, Roy,” will be screened, with the favouite actress, June Caprice, .in, thei principal role. This is a charming picture, and one that will delight Shannon movie lovers.
