OBSCENE LANGUAGE.
SUBSTANTIAL FINE ON OFFENDER. At 10 o’clock on Saturday night, Constables McGregor and Shannon arrested a man named Joseph Daniel Boyle on the railway station for using obscene language in a public place.
The accused appeared before Messrs. Spencer and Gunning, J.P.'s, yesterday morning, when he pleaded guilty and was fined £lO or three months’ imprisonment.
The Bench, in inflicting this heavy fine, remarked on the amount of obscene language being used in public places,- and expressed the opinion that this class of offence should be more strictly dealt with.
