Two local sportsmen had an allusual experience; a few days ago. A duck was brought down and fell in a lagoon over which they were shooting, The duck lay for some little time on the surface- and then commenced to disappear. The shootists [lulled out. in their boat and found that {the duck was being devoured by a large eel, indeed the head and neck bad already disappeared. They rescued the body, and the eel swimming to the surface was promptlv shot. The eel was estimated to he Ait 6in to sft long.
