DISORDERLY BEHAVIOUR
On Wednesday morning, the Uth
inst., a young man named Alfreu 'Ralph Cutfield was brought before Messrs. Murdoch and Tay’or, Justices, at the Court, Shannm, on two charges: (1) with trespassing cn the New Zealand Railway at Palmerston North; and (2) with using bad 'anguage to the guard or the train, at Longburn Junction. A goods train left Palmerston North about 6 p.m. on the 18th, and Cutfield hopped aboard (Or Shannon. As the train was not/ stopping ,at Shannon, Guard Anderson told ;Cfutfield he could not come by that train, but would have + o /wait for a later
one. But Cutfield him and -yame-^by'-the-tpaihr and io make it worse be got off .ihe platform at Longburn and abused it 3 guard and used language that could not be found in Webster’s Dictionary, 'ihe
result was that he was arrested at Linton by Constable Shannon. Cutfield gave as an excuse that, he was in a hurry to get back to worn. He pleaded guilty, and was fined £1 H/ for trespassing* on the railway and £1 for the language, or one month in gaol.
