MR HAYS TO ELIMINATE THE SEX
APPEAL

Mr W. H. Hays’ resignation of the Postmaster - Generalship to become bead of the National Organisation of Cinema Producers, at jin annual sal-
ary of £37,500, has been accepted. P becomes effective when liis- successor is appointed. His new post was created for limi by the cinema producers, who are convinced of the necessity of & complete reorganisation of the motion picture industry to save it from irresponsible promoters who are putting on the screen demoralising pictures. ' v
Mr Hays will be given absolute authority to “clean-up” the industry and make it respectable. President Harding, who has taken a personal interest in the offer to Mr Hays,'says in a public statement that it* is too great an opportunity for helpful public service for Mr Hays to refuse.
Mr Hays 'announces that he will seek only the best productions in future. He is expected entirely to eliminate the sex appeal from the pictures as his first reforming move.
