Co-operative contracts have now been let for the tunnelling work at Mangahao that was interrupted some weeks .jtgO’ by the strike of the men engaged against a reduction in the rate of pay. There was a good deaf of competition for these contracts, and it is understood the price accepted is considerably less than the prestrike rate. Work is expected to be in full swing at both, tunnels at an early date.
