MEETING. OF HOROWHENUA ASSOCIATION.

REP. MATCH AND CLUB FINAL AT

SHANNON

A meeting of the. Horowhenua Cricket Association was held on Saturday, March 4, at Levin, delegates from both ends of the district being present.

A good deal of correspondence -.was read and discussed.

A letter from the hon. .secretary of the Weraroa Club requesting a meeting of the Association in order to find out who was responsible for postponing club matches when rep. matches were being played was tabled. The delegates decided that no action could be taken. As the ruling stands at present, ail Cup matches must give way to’ rep. matches. The secretary stated that a meeting of the Association was 3 called as directed, but that no representative from Weraroa turned up. It was decided that the rep. match, Manawatu v. Horowhenua, would be played at Shannon on Easter Monday, and that a match Northern End v. Southern would be played at Levin on March 11, starting at 1 p.m. The following were appointed selectors for the Southern team: E. Clarke (Tainui A), K. Davis (Tainui B), and H. Jones (Te Horo). As the Shannon team won the championship of the northern end, and Te Horo of the southern, it was decided that these two teams play the final match at Shannon on Saturday, March 18, and Messrs. F. and T. Fletcher, of Levin, were appointed umpires for that event. Tainui A entered a protest against the result of the match played against Te Horo on February 18, on the grounds that Te Horo played a man in the second innings who had not played in the first, without permission, and also for not playing out the full time by t\vo> minutes. The protest was dismissed, as it was not lodged within three days after the match, and also on the grounds that the decision of the umpire could not be altered.

The rounds have now been completed at,both ends, and the following are the results: —

SOUTHERN DIVISION. Won. Pts. Te Horo 6 "W Tainui B .. 4 8 Tainui A ,3 - 6 In the rep. match, North v. South, the following players are selected to represent North: Prain, Grainger, Main, Merwood, F.
