The recent spell of dry weather its having'its effect on the district, me pastures are showing a parched appearance, and a good ram would Le welcomed. Several residents are carting water for household purposes. Settlers are interesting themselves m having the water service extended out here, and the scheme, ii carried out, would be a great boon to ihe district.

improvements are being, carried out at tiie railway station. The old system of turning the points is being replaced by a more up-to-date method. Mr Andrew Forsyth is at present on holidays, and will shortly return to continue his studies at the Christchurch University.
