r EURYTIIMIC BEATS CARBINE’S j MONETARY RECORD. I A Melbourne cable says Eurythmic won the Futurity Stakes in L2B.R The cable adds: ‘‘The victory provoked intense enthusiasm, as Eurythmic has established his claim to be considered the greatest racehorse of all time in tills part of the world, making his stake winnings £31,505 against Carbine’s £29,626.” Eurythmic, a chestnut horse by En--5 dorus —Bob Cherry, is five years old, [ and is trained by J. Holt and ridden by F. Dempsey. As a two-year-old he won three events, as a three-year-old six events, including the West Austra-
lian Derby. As a four-year-old he se- •< cured first place in twelve events, in- j eluding the Cauldfield Cup and the I Sydney Cup. He also ran fourth in j the Melbourne Cup. 'This season he lias won every event in which he has | started and only on three occasions in j his turf career has he run unplaced. | The enthusiasm of the cable is hardly justified in view of the largely increased amount of the stakes in present- times. The test is the number of races and the quality of the opposition. and judged by this standard Carbine’s record will stand untouched lor many a day yet.
