SOCIAL AT KOPUTAROA.

DEPARTING RESIDENTS ENTER-

TAINED

On Friday night at the Koputaroa Schoolroom, the residents entertained Mr and Mrs N. Flyger, who are taking their departure. During the evening Mr D. Bell, oil behalf of the settlers, presented Mb alid Mrs Flyger with a handsome teaset of Royal Vale china. He spoke in glowing terms cf their many good qualities, arid wished them every success in their new sphere of life. In responding on behalf of his wife, children and himself, Mr Flyger asked .those present to accept their deepest gratitude for the presentation and the manner in which it had been given. He also wished to thank Mrs W. Garrard and Mrs Arana for the trouble they had gone to on their behalf, and in yearfe to come they would look upon the gift as a token of good-fellowship. Mr Flyger said it was a disappointment to him when he had to retire from the railway service, bu the had been under medical treatment for the past eighteen months, and he realised that his work on the New Zealand railways had come to an end. He therefore thanked one and all for their kindness to him and his family.

During the evening a dance was held, and songs were given by Messrs. Wakefield, Garrard and Flyger. Mr Arena officiated as M.C., and Mr Peter Gray supplied the music. Supper was handed round by the ladies during the interval. The children of Koputaroa gathered at the home of Mr Flyger on Saturday evening last to give a send-otf to the Misses Flyger, who are shortly leaving the district. They were presented with a silk dress-length each, and a very pleasant evening was spent. Supper was provided by the parents -of the children who presented the gifts.
