SHANNON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

REGULAR MEETING. The fortnightly meeting w*as held on Tuesday evening, and Was attended by (he Mayor and Crs. Hook, Hyde, Murray, Fargher, Richardson, Butt, Gardner and Spencer. COMPLAINT ABOUT FOWLS. Mrs E. Perkins, Stout Street, asked if something could not be done to remove the fowlhouse right against her back door and belonging to Mr Peters. The Health Inspector had been down twice and said the fowls must be removed, but so far nothing had been done. Inspector O'Brien also wrote regarding the fowlrun, ibout which complaint had been made. There was a breach of the by-law, and the Council could serve a requisition. Tl was possible that the fowls could be onclosed 30 feet from any dwelling, rs only a few were kept. Certainly the place was kept very clean.. On Cr. Fargher's motion, seconded by Cr. Spencer, it was decided to notify She owner concerned of the nuisance, and ask him to remove this fowls as per the Health Officer's report. INADEQUATE WATER SUPPLY. Mr M. O'Brien, inspector, Department of Health, stated that about November last a requisition was served on the owners, or agents of properties occupied by Mrs Heremia and Mrs Kiriona, of Nathan's Terrace, that improvements were necessary to their premises. The trouble was principally the lack of water tanks. One of the places had an old pump, from which the wafer was not fit for any other purpose than washing. It was an essential that tanks be supplied, and the Inspector suggested that the requisition to the owners be repeated. It was decided, on the Mayor's -notion, that Messrs Gilmour and Clark, and Mr Warrington, the owners, be notified, that they comply with requisition from the Health Officer within seven days, otherwise an information would be laid against them without further notice, the. Mayor being authorised to deal with the matter.

DISEASED COW. Mr D. Fleming, Inspector of Stock, reported that he had inspected a Jersey and light brinclle cow, and in his opinion the animal was tubercu* iar, and must be destroyed, and the carcase either buried or burned. The Mayor stated that the animal had been destroyed in accordance with the .Inspector's instructions. CLEARING A CREEK. ] Mr J. Curran inquired what assistance the Council would give tr.-i in the work of cleaning out the creek running through his ground. The- creek had brought down a lot ol debris and had become blocked, causing the water to ilow all over *!is paddock. The Mayor moved, Cr. Gardner seconded, and it was carried, that Mr Curran be offered half cost so tongas this -does not exceed £B, but the Council does not accept any liability, and Mr Curran to accept the offer <i writing. GENERAL. Cr. Hook said the rubbish pit was Piled to the top and requited .tipping down. A couple of hours would do the work. Cr. Gardner said Cr. Hook, ;> ' chairman of the Roads Committee, should bave power to put one of the roadmen on and do work of this land. Cr Hyde complained that someone ' had recently tipped a load of decayed i uinons in Margaret Street. I his [ slviii'd not be allowed. J cr. Hook said there were sonv.
