DROWNING FATALITIES.

GIRL VICTIM AT FOXTON. Laura Henskie, aged 15 years, \ya ; s the victim of a drowning fatality near Foxton wharf on Sunday evening. Deceased was paddling in the water in company with a young man named Irwin Wriglit, and she slipped over a ledge inio deep water. She clung to Wright, but. released her hold when imiiev the water. Wright managed to recover the bank, in an exhausted condition. William Retter, a young man, was an eye-witness of the occurrence, and dived in several times, but was unable to find the body owing to the muddy state and. depth of the water. Yesterday morning the police, aided by a party of residents, were engaged in dragging operations, but up till late yesterday afternoon the body had not been recovered. BOY DROWNED AT TOKOMARU. Another sad fatality is chronicled from Tokomaru. On Sunday afternoon a lad of 8 years aiul's months, named Stanley Peter Jamieson, went to play near a dam with two brothers named Pope. After they had been m company for some time, Jamieson left his companions and set off towards a fiaxmill in the locality. At about 5.45 p.m. the brothers were passing the dam, and noticed Jamieson’s clothes on the bank, lie was nowhere in sight, and having searched the. locality, they gave the alarm. Ills dead body was later found at. the bottom of the dam. Deceased was the son of Mr Laurcson Jamieson, a liaxmiller, of Tokomaru. An inquest will be held this morning- in Tokomaru.
