SHANNON’S RAINFALL.
44.61 INCHES FOR THE YEAR. Mr J. H. Sinclair kindly supplies some interesting details of the rainfall in Shannon during the past twelve months. The heaviest fall was in the month of December, when 8.15 inches were gauged, rain being. recorded on 15 days out of the 31—an extraordinary experience. The year’s total was 44,61 inches, as Compared with 43.38 inches in 1920, there being 179 wet days in 1921, as against 160 in the previous year. The monthly totals are as follows, the number of wet days per month being given in parenthesis;— January ... 1.71 inches (9) * February ... 1.54 inches (7) March ... 1.85 inches (17) April ... 1.72 inches (12) May ... 2.66 inches (16) June ... 2.94 inches (18) July 5.87 inches (20) . August ... 6.04 inches (17) September... 3.44 inches (14) October ... 5.56 inches (20) November ... 3.33 inches (14) December ... 8.15 inches (15) On the following days, one inch or over fell: July 2 (1.10 inches), August 2 (1.35 inches), August 4 (1.52 inches), October 21 (1.00 inches), December 12 (1.68 inches), December 30 (1.66 inches), December 31 (1.85 inches).
