The Romney Marsh two-tootli shorn rams that were placed first, second, and third at the Dunedin show, and also gained the judge’s verdict at Balciutha, were passed over the other day at the Southland show, the judge giving the first prize to a ram from the same flock that did not get a place at Dunedin. The Wellington Acclimatisation Society has increased the deer-stalking licenses from £2 to £3 for the coming season. It has been decided to close the district extending from Shannon to Paraparaumu next.year, to allow the herds in the southern localities a respite, after several'years’ stalking. ■ The latest consignment of Kuku I cheese to be shipped gave a grade of j 94 h, half a point better than the pre- ; vious returns. This is a very high I grade, anti indicates the fine article ! which the company is manufacturj ing at present. I Although there is a slackening off in the building trade generally in the Dominion, it cannot be said that the statement is true in regard to church work. One Arm of Wellington architects, Messrs.
