Mrs Robbie, teacher at the lhakara School, had her services recognised in a pleasing way recently, when she \ as entertained by the local residents and made a presentation. Mr J. H. Taylor, who acted as spokesman, referred to Mrs Robbie’s good work at the school, and stated that at the last examination she had got a 100 per cent of passes—a most creditable record. He had pleasure in handing her a little present in the shape of a salad bowl as a token of the parents’ appreciation. Mr C. I. Harkness, the local member of the Board, supplemented Mr Taylor’s remarks. A social and dance was afterwards held, when several items were given by the children. It was the first time they had appeared in any local entertainment, but acquitted themselves very well indeed. There was a large attendance of residents, and a pleasant evening was spent.
