HOROWHENUA A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

| J.li EXTENDED SCHEDULE. GENEROUS LIST OF TROPHIES AND | , SPECIALS. The schedule lor the Horowhenua A. and P. Association’s show, to be field on January 18 and 19 next, is now being distributed, and may also be had from the secretary, Mr R. D. Wallace, Box 27, Levin, with whom all entries close on January 9. Judging from. the additional prize money to be given in several of the ring competitions and cattle classes, there should be a record entry, and favoured with fine weather, patrons are promised a very enjoyable time. in addition to the many ring events of past years, the following have been added: Tilting at the Ring (both days), Open Hunters’ Competition, Turning Competition (for ladies), Galloway Ponies, Best Farmers’ Turnout (to include horse, vehicle, harness and produce), and Best Lady Rider. . Mr J. Sigley has donated £5 lor most points obtained in competitions for light horse classes. In the cattle classes, one for trio of Dairy cows or heifers in milk has been added to the Dairy Section, for which a Gup has been by Mr A. L. "Williams, of Levin, to be won twice in succession or three times at intervals. Mr R. L. Horn has also presented a cup for most points in this section, to be competed for under similar conditions. The Purebred Jersey Section has received its,., share oi support, as the sum of £lB 18/ has been donated by the New Zealand Jersey Council and the Jersey - breeders of the Horowhenua district, for distribution in these classes. 6up originally presented by the Levin Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd., and won outright by Mr G. Seivers, has Jieen replaced by a £ls 15/ cup front the same donors, and is supplemented by money prizes to the extent of £l6 16/, donated by Mr G. Seivers, and the Ivuku, Manakau and Shannon Dairy Companies. This competition has been made open to both pure and cross-bred cows, which fact should attract a record entry. There is little or no '.alteration in the sheep section. Owing to the low price of both' wpol and sheep", it is anticipated that there may be a falling off of entries in these classes, but on the other hand farmers may think that as their stock is worth little they may be able to make up for it in tbe show ring.

The Pig Section has had two additional classes included in it. One is for purebred sow, any breed, 1# months or under, with first litter of pigs; and the other lor best litter of pedigree pigs (6), age not to exceed eight weeks.

" On the whole the schedule for the coming show is a very attractive one, and should draw a fair amount of outside competition. The following is a list of donors and their respective amounts up to t he present, in addition to those already mentioned.
