WAIMAIRI COUNTY FINANCE.
Severe strictures upon the Waimairi (Canterbury) County’s balance-sheet axe contained in tags attached to it by the Auditor-General. The Council held a special meeting In committtee last week, to discuss the matter. The Auditor-General’s tags included the following:— “The accounts have been duly audited by the audit office, but cannot be certified as correct for the following reasons:— “1. The condition of the hooks was found to be such, particularly where the electrical concerns are affected, that it is impossible to vouch for the accuracy of the statements. “2, Loan moneys have been systematically" and illegally used for pur-Ljfe-other than those for which the Hri ward authorised and raised
