THE WEEKiS WOKE!. THE FLOWER GARDEN. Fork any beds or borders that have been beaten 'down by rain. Thin out the weak shoots of phlox, Michaelmas daisies, etc. 1 ’ Sow/ hardy and half hardy annuals. Thin seedlings as soon as possible. Continue the planting of beds and borders. \ i| ► Sow asters, zinnias, eelosia, sunflowers, salpiglossis, salvia. Chrysanthemums can be planted now. Prepare the beds for dahlias and chrysanthemums as soon as, possible. Dahlias can be-started and divided ready for planting. Give roses liquid manure. Clean border carnations and hoe beds. ' Plant gladioli, if not already in the ground. Stake the earlier planted. Rhododendrons and azaleas will need dud attention in regard to water. Divide polyanthus and primroses. Seed can also be sown. Prune back lucullia gratissima hal'd. Prune spring flowering shrubs as they go out of. bloom. ' Prune poinsettia pulcherrima. Make up new bcdß of violets.

You can push on with the early dahlia plantings. But see that you place tubers that are showing their early growths. Growing crops should have the soil well, stirred between them. Plant out tomatoes. Keep asparagus beds clean. Seed can be sown for plants for new beds. Sow French and runner beans. Sow Brussel sprouts and broccoli. Plant onions. Keep the soil loose around those planted. Dust with soot. Sow peas for succession. Earth and slake those already up. ' Sow vegetable marrow, cucumbers, rock and watermelons and pumpkins. Plant more potatoes. Spray and mould up those that are ready.
