A MAN MISSING.
IN MAKERUA SWAMP. Some alarm has been occasioned ai the Miranui mill at Makerua by the disappearance or an employee numeu Artnur my ant. Bryant was employed as a cuuer in me swamp, and ten me camp ior work as usual on iuc.clay morning, but was noticed taking a home of whisky with him. He reached his “break” -of flax hr the swamp all’right, and-at 9.30 a lellowemployee noticed that Bryant was lying' down among his flax. After that the flood came up, making it necessary lor the men to leave the swamp. It was- then noticed that Bryant was not present; and parties went out and searched as far as it was possible to venture into the swamp. There was no sign of the missing man at the place ne was last seen, nor any response to the calls made. The search was continued all night without success, and no trace was found yesterday, by which-time 1 there was; a good depth of water over the area where cutting had been in progress. Information this morning states that there is still no news of the missing man. There are still two feet of water m the swamp where he Was last seen. It will be a few days yet before this clears away, when a further search will he made.
