KOPUTAROA NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Mr Douglas Bell, who recently took over the local store from Mr Gilchrist, is making extensive improvements to the interior of the shop, and is to be congratulated on its improved appearance. New and up-to-date stock-in-trade has been added, and the district is being well catered for. The recent flood-water has subsided, and the . flaxcutters are again at work. Each' flood only serves to emphasise the urgent need of a drainage board to deal with the large area of land that is in its present condition, a loss to the district. Messrs. Slack and Bullivant have commenced dairying on their property and have installed an up-to-date milking plant. The recent heavy gale did considerable damage, and there was a large
falling-off of milk. The value of shelter plantations was realised by those fortunate to possess them. The local undenominational Sunday 1 school is holding its annual concert on Friday evening. A splendid pro gramme has been arranged, and noted talent from Levin and the surrounding district are giving assistance, lis an enjoyable evening is assured. The proceeds are in aid of the prize fund,so a full house will he wel corned.
