THE HOME BEAUTIFUL.
(To the Editori)
Sir,-The people oi Shannon deserve credit for the effort they are making to beautify their town and for the whole-hearted manner in which they have assisted to make costumes and buy mfaterial for their children to take part in the coming Extravaganza, but this to a large extent comes from the ladies. What are the men doing? They, of course, will be present at the performance, and no doubt get good value for their money. Would they % not be helping themselves, and at the same time the town, if they beautified the surroundings Of their homes to a greater extent. Some do so with excellent results, but the great majority do nothing. Even a patch of cabbages or potatoes would look better and be far more useful than the weeds and rubbish. that surround many of the homes in Shannon. It is up to men. to do their share. If they all get busy every home could be a beauty spot. I am, etc., ROSES.
