FESTAL FAIR.
The Fesui Fair to he held ill the Maorilanu Theatre ou Thursday week, October zd, promises m he a huge success. Pronnses of gilts, and work aireauy completed, together/ with the piles ol' goods in hand, indicate that the various stalls will he well loaded ready for purchasers. The memner lor .the district (Mr Newman) lias accepted the invitation of the secretary to he present to open the Fair. The Mayor (Mr Murdoch) will also be present to welcome and introduce the member for the district.
The i Festal Fair will open at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, and will continue until late at night. A' Jeature ot the Fair f is the fact of an open door. Admission, both afternoon and evening, wiil pe tree. During the evening a concert programme will be rendered. The talented Foxton Choir of some. 18 ol* 26 voices will rentier a number oi glees; members will also contribute quartets, solos, duets. There will he a laughter-raising item in a berm rush lor boys, also a bedmaking competition for men. A novel item will'be;a candle-lighting competition, whilst nail-driving will aslo have its place. Among the' side-shows will be a specially selected art gallery; also a mystery parlour introducing some puzzling! expositions of conjuring by a professor of /nagie. A dainty tearoom is bein garranged, where afternoon tea, supper and fruit salad may be partaken of. A living “Aunt Sally” will also tempt young and old. Among the stalls are: Plain v and Fancy Sewing, Sweets, Flowers, Ice Cream, Produce, Jumble, and Ye Okie Brail Tub. The proceeds of the Festal Fair are in aid of the local Methodist Church. As this is the first time in years that the church has .appealed to the public in this way for aid, we believe the Festal Fair will-receive hearty support.
