Mr H. R. Green, the well known breeder of Friesian cattle in the Kairanga, has advised us that another of his purebred cows has made a record for New Zealand for her age. This cow, Buttercup 111. of Ashlyn, produced in the past season 20,843.41 b of milk and 833,261 b 'of butterfat, and fulfilled all the requirements necessary to gain the award of a certificate of merit from the Department of Agriculture, by calving a few weeks after completing her test. The previous record for New 1 Zealand by a four-year-old cow was also held by a Friesian, which has since been sold to a* New South Wales breeder for 500 gs. Mr Green’s cow has beaten her record by 821 bof fat. The amount earned by this one cow during the past season is approximately £ll7. Mr Green ,has been supplying the Glaxo factory jit Bunnythorpe and recived the following pay-outs for butterfat: Six months 2s lid per lb, four months 2s lOd, one month 2s 4|d, and one month 2s M. The actual return to her owner is therefore £ll7. Had her milk been sold for town consumption it would have returned Mr Green in the vicinity of £l5O. The average butterfat test of this cow for the full year was 4.0 per cent, and her highest test was' 5.3 per cent.—Palmerston Standard.
