Use the sugar from candied peel to sweeten and flavour a rice pudding.
When sprinkling clothes use hot wa ter which dampens them more evenly,
The juice of raw potatoes is excellent for removing stains from the hands and from-*woollen fabrics.
When removing stains by artificial means, always do so before the linen is washed. Washing and boiling serve to give stains a firmer hold. Spring Cleaning Hints. —To wash chintz: Steep in cold water for twenty minutes to fix the colours, then wash in warm, soapy water, and add a little ammonia to the rinsing water. Dry as quickly as possible in a wind; pass through rather stiff hot starch, and dry again, indoors this time. If a gloss is desired, scrape hqlf an ounce of beeswax into two quarts of starch, and iron on aright side.
