MEN’S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP.
WON BY W. G. CLARK
The final of the men’s championship of the Levin Golf Club was played on the local links on Saturday between H. E. Porter and W. G. Clark. The match was two rounds of 56 holes, Clark winning by 11 up and 10 to play. Clark started off well, his opening scores leading 4,4, 5,3, but Porter improved and halved the next three, lost the eighth and won the ninth. The next was helved, but after that Clark kept well in the lead. The winner made some splendid drives—opposite the green at the Corners 281 yards, and within two yards of the fence at the Steeple, 260 yards. Clark will be a competitor at the Manawatu tournament commencing in Palmerston North to-day. Local players will wish him every success.
