GRAPPLING WITH TUBERCULOSIS.
The spread of tuberculosis Through- - out the Dominion is a - subject that inquires earnest consideration. The Aiayor of Shannon has been investigating locally, and the result will come before the next meeting of the Palmerston North Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. His Worship considers that our present methods of dealing with tuberculosis would have disgraced the reign of some African potentate thousands of yeafs before Pharoah. A tuberculous sbuject, ii there is a chance of a cure, is taken into a sanatorium ii there happens to he room; if unciirable tie is turned "loose on the country to spread the scourge round. The particulars obtained by the Mayor are of a startling nature. -He blames the Government lor Indiscrimination in allowing persons affected to come into the country, and for the wholesale immigration when there is insufficient house accommodation for the people already here. In some of the cases investigated by thi Mayor, • two or three children wele sleeping in the same room as the tuberculous subject.
