THE LEVIN MARKET.
PIGS EASIER IN PRICE. TJie entry at Tuesday’s’ sale was fairly heavy pne in fat sheep and stores were moderately represented, but- pigs m the bacon classes were smaller in number, yhilst cattle was about average. -Both weaner and store pigs, alter the prices ®of last week; were forward in good'numbers, but the Inquiry was riot nearly as keen, and a number of entries were passed. Th® smallness of the- porker entry made the demand brisk, and the yarding was quickly disposed of. In fat sheep the best line of wethers reached -21 s lOd, which is Is Id better than last week’s top price, whilst the balance of the fat wethers made from 16s 7d ■ to 18s 9d. Practically ail the fat lines sold. Stores did not meet with much request, and there was good buying in several, lines of young stock; Fat. bullocks maintained last week’s rates, but anything in the store line was a drug, a pen of cows of this class only' bringing a bid of 7s 6d, which was accepted. Yoiing dairy stock was again a good saleable proposition, every lot of yearling heifers being quitted, well bred Jerseys making up to £4 15s and £5 10s, and other breeds to £3 and £4. A line of four 12 to 15-months Jersey <• bulls from tested cow's, submitted on behalf of Mr H. J. Lancaster, of Fairfield, brought keen competition, and changed hands at £l7 10s, £ll and two'at £lO each. The v entry of dairy cows was up to average, but the inquiry, was good only for heifers and young cows of the best class near early profit.
